Club Email List May Be Wacky

We are going to migrate our email list over to a new service next week and this involves updating DNS records.  Usually, these sorts of updates are pretty smooth, but occasionally they result in some wacky behavior.  If you don't receive club email for a few days or your email arrives late, don't worry.  It should go back to normal soon.  Please let me know, though, if you experience a complete lack of email for an extended period of time.

Jim's Transition Tips

Here are transition tips courtesy of Jim Young who was another winner of the Great Transition Challenge:

Phil's Transition Tips

These are transition tips graciously shared with us by Phil MacBride, the winner of the Great Transition Challenge.  He won with a total T1 & T2 time of 1:06 (wow!):

Race Day Nutrition for Olympic Distance Triathlon

Here's my race day nutrition regimen for doing an Olympic distance triathlon:

Transition Challenge: Win a Running Fit Gift Card!

We had a great turnout last night for our club transition clinic and barbecue--it was so great, in fact, that we ran out of food.  (Next time we'll make sure to purchase more vittles.)

The transition clinic was fun, but we didn't get around to holding our competition for the fastest transition.  Therefore, we're going to open the competition up to the general membership.  Here's the scoop:

Transition Clinic/Club BBQ on Friday, July 9th at 7pm

Please come out to Silver Lake next Friday (July 9) for transition
practice and a bbq!  We will start at 7PM, so that the die-hard swimmers can join right after their 6.30PM swim workout.

A ton of good reasons why you should join us:
- free food!  (word has it that Jon W may bring some of his stockpile of chicken)
- get all the ins and outs on how to make your transitions faster (I'm looking at you Mike Fitz!)
- chance to win coupons for fastest transition
- find out who's doing which race and get to know your fellow club members better

Seeking Feedback on Cliff Keen

If you purchased a club kit this year and have any feedback you would like to share about the kit, let me know.  I'll share it with our representative at Cliff Keen.  You can send an email to 'treasurer at aatriclub.org'.  Thanks!

New Shorter Ride Option for Thursday Night Bricks

Because not everyone wants to ride over 25 miles on Thursday evenings during the brick workout, we're offering a second option.  See the link below for the new 16-mile ride:

http://www.mapmyride.com/route/us/mi/ann%20arbor/189127722231296187

This new distance is more in line with our previous brick ride that started from Barton Park before Huron River Drive became all but impassable.

Stop by Tri Club tent at A2 Triathlon!

If you're racing in the Ann Arbor Triathlon on Sunday (or if you're a spectator), stop by the Ann Arbor Tri Club tent.  We'll have free, cold
beverages, a place to congregate, and (heaven forbid!) a place to huddle together if it rains.  If we have enough volunteers, we'll have
a club representative in the tent for the duration and you will be welcome to store your valuables there as well.

Hope to see you at the race!  And good luck if you're competing!

Club Update

A New Way of Doing Business
The board met last night (June 8) and had a great
meeting.  As you know, Emilie Tullis--our previous president--has moved
to Colorado and Jon Woodard--our webmaster among other things--is also
moving.  Given this, we met to figure out who will be taking over the
various responsibilities.  Traditionally, the president has been the
'workhorse' of the club with a lot of responsibilities piled on her
shoulders.  The board would like to change this and divvy up
