Weekly Happenings: 5/20 - 5/26

Sain baina uu,
It's the latter half of May, and it has occurred to me that I have done
exactly one brick. It's not that I have only attended one brick, it's
that I have only done one. Fortunately, tomorrow is as good a day as any
to start catching up. I'll be out there suffering through brick number
two of the year. Will you join me?

Weekly Happenings: 5/6 - 5/12

Bula uro,
The weather is great, there are races on the calendar, and
school is over. Finally, in concurrence with those t-shirts/tire
covers/hats, life is good, and it's time to really start
training.

Two Wheel Tango Cinco de Mayo Celebration - Many moons ago, the
citizens of the Mexican state of Puebla defeated the French. Now, we
celebrate this feat with margaritas, cheese dip, and discounts at our favorite bike store. Both the Jackson and Packard

Weekly Happenings: 4/29 - 5/5

Ma Salaama,
Do you have your race
calendar sorted out yet? I, for one, do not at all. If you are still
looking for some races, I recommend checking out the MERCRS schedule.
Also, don't forget that the Dexter Ann Arbor run is coming up, and the
half sold out last year. Or, check out club sponsor
Epic Races for
some great local events.

Weekly Happenings: 4/22 - 4/28

Ya'at'eeh,
We're off to a great start this year with the Sunday rides. I am hoping
we can keep up the momentum and revive the wonderful group rides of the
days of yore. I am also hoping that the weather will start cooperating
again soon, so we can have a set time. Before you know it, we'll be
swimming outside!

Spring Member Meeting - The Spring Member Meeting will be on
Thursday, April 29, from 6-7:30, at WCC Health and Fitness Center at

Weekly Happenings: 4/8-4/14

Kihineth,
Last Sunday was the first club long ride, and it was a good
one. At first, it was just Jon and me, and I was afraid we were on our
own. Before we were geared up, though, we were joined by Mike Fitz and
Scott. It was sunny and warm enough for shorts and t-shirts. After a
lovely ride through the Preserve, we headed up Mast, and ran into Doug
in his car. We arranged to meet him in the next subdivision where he
could get out his bike and join up with us. However, as we made our way
around the bend, my crank fell off. Whoops. Scott and I got it

Weekly Happenings: 4/1-4/7

Selamat datang,
Folks, the weather this week is phenomenal! And, at
long last, the weather is going to be nice on the weekend, too (aided by
the fact that I don't have to go to work on Good Friday.) Needless to
say, I'm sure many of us will be outside (perhaps at the premier
Thursday brick) taking advantage of it.
Of course, it's easy to go outside when it's nice. This past Saturday, I
spent the majority of the day studying and cleaning. I justified not
running because it was "cold" and I was happy with all of the work I was

Weekly Happenings: 3/25 - 3/31

Grüezi,
Now that the mercury is rising and the daylight is lingering,
I have been able to revisit some of my favorite bike rides from last
year. It's like visiting an old haunt, replete with new potholes and new
pavement. I rode (most of) the Julie brick route today, and pulled my
tri bike out of hibernation. Not to worry, that one little dip in the
road about 18" from the shoulder is still there. I made the turn off of
Dixboro onto Pontiac Trail, and was about to attack the hill up to Nixon
when I noticed, out of the corner of my eye, a smooth, gently rolling,

Weekly Happenings: 3/18-3/24

Dia duit,
I checked out the brick route last night, and, with the
exception of some rough spots on Pontiac Trail, things are looking good!
It won't be long until we have enough daylight to stay outside for
good. In the mean time, keep soaking up the sun while it's there.

2010 Ann Arbor Triathlon Club Team Kit - We've been working hard,
but the design is finally ready! Here are the details:
-Kit will be made by local company Cliff Keen, who has recently begun
making triathlon and cycling gear
-Men: $50/top, $50/bottom

Weekly Happenings: 3/11-3/17

Szervusz,
The snow is (mostly) melted, and shorts are out.
Hopefully, you are too, out enjoying this weather and getting ready for
spring. I personally am thrilled, as I have been a huge wuss about
working out in the cold this year. Even I have hit the pavement
consistently this week.

Ann Arbor YMCA Indoor Tri -
Dave Morris from the YMCA is
looking for volunteers for the indoor tri on 3/21. This is a fun event,
and volunteering is a good way to give back to the sport. Dave writes:
