News & Workouts This Week

This is the season for announcements! Here's the latest so far:

Ride of Silence on Wednesday, May 21st:
Club member, Bonnie, writes to say, "This week is the Ride of Silence to honor those who have been killed or injured while biking. The AABTS is participating with a ride on Wednesday night. Here is the link to the info: http://www.aabts.org/"

Women In Motion Tri/Du Training:
This is an exciting opportunity! Please read on. New club member, Karen, writes: "Please send out an email to the women members of the AA Tri Club informing them of a tri/du training program that Women In Motion is offering. It is geared towards beginners but will have some intermediate women there too. You can check us out at www.womeninmotion.us."

Monday, May 26th at 9:30am: HyperFit's Murph Challenge:
Doug Chapman, owner of HyperFit USA, writes: "The Memorial Day "Murph" Challenge is a fitness competition to benefit the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (www.specialops.org). SOWF provides college scholarship grants, not loans, to surviving children of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations personnel killed in combat or training missions. The SOWF also provides immediate financial assistance to special operations personnel severely wounded in the global war on terror. The SOWF fills an important void as the people who are benefiting from it are George Orwell's rough men – The ones who are out there at the really sharp end. It is their kids that use this fund and we can think of no one more deserving." See http://hyperfitusa.typepad.com/ for more information.

First Club 'Race' on May 31st/Transition Clinic
We're going to hold our club's first practice triathlon Saturday, May 31st, at Silver Lake near Dexter. This will be a fun 'race' with an emphasis on giving you a taste of what it's like to compete in a triathlon. If you're a first-time triathlete, this is a perfect opportunity to try it out in a low pressure race. If you're a seasoned triathlete, this is a perfect opportunity to get in the swing of the summer racing season. The race will be preceded by a transition clinic and followed by a club picnic. More details to follow...

Ann Arbor Track Club is Looking for Volunteers for the Dexter-Ann Arbor Run on Sunday, June 1st
Hal Wolfe, the race director for the Dexter-Ann Arbor Run writes: "The AATC could use help with about 3 locations for course marshals along Huron River Drive. The times would be in the 8:30 - 10 AM time frame on Sunday June 1st. Exact locations would be TBD but likely would be up near Preserve Drive and that area. If you could forward a note to your club to help find some support, that would be much appreciated."

If you can help out, please email Hal at "runlikehal@yahoo.com". Thank you!
