Hello Leden,
Lots of good stuff going on this week. Hopefully, you
will be able to make it to one of the great clean-up projects going on
in the next few weeks. In other news, the Spring Member Meeting is NEXT
WEEK! Here are the deets (and I'm not talking bug spray:)
Spring Member Meeting - Thursday, April 23, 7-9 p.m.
- Join us for this annual event, this year at the WCC Health and
Wellness Center at 4833 East Huron River Drive. Come renew your
membership, check out what's new with the club, and what we have
planned for the coming season (I'm talking about SUMMER, people, and
it's LONG overdue in my book.) Sponsors and partners will also be on
hand, along with food. RSVP is appreciated.
Brick! Due to
upcoming construction projects on HRD and Julie's race
schedule (read: lack of availability on some Thursday nights,) we do
not have a definitive place for the brick. We have had several
suggestions for where to go. Now we are going to try them out and let
you vote. The trials begin this week. Read on!
And now for the workouts:
Thursday, 4/16
Brick!
The first of our trial bricks will take place at Lilly Park on Platt at
6 p.m. Our fearless workout coordinator Sean will be available. Check
out the route here. There are nice running routes in the park.
Saturday, 4/18
Morning Run Sponsored by Running Fit - Club partner, Running Fit, sponsors
a 6-8 mile run starting promptly at 9:03 a.m. out of Gallup Park. Meet at the
picnic tables in the second parking lot (over the bridge.) If you have any
questions about weather, distance, etc., please contact our dashing workout
coordinator, Sean (seangeary@yahoo.com.)
Running Fit offers perks for showing up weekly, starting with a free water
bottle after 6 runs and working up to a free tech shirt after 18.
Sunday, 4/19
Outdoor Ride - I will be
attending the Running Fit Poto weeding event on Sunday, so will not be
available for a ride (at least in the morning.) BUT, it is supposed to
be nice, so I again encourage ANY of you to let us know if you would
like to get a ride together.
Last
week, we had a nice group of riders with mixed fitness levels, paces,
etc. and we all left as friends. Part of the fun of being a member is
sharing the training experience with others.
Weed Whacking with Running Fit & the DNR - Join
Running Fit at Half Moon Beach on Hankerd (site of the Ann Arbor
Triathlon) to pull weeds and clear the trails. Weed whacking starts at
10; optional 5 mile trail run before-hand at 9. Randy asks that we
please register (it is free) just to make sure the DNR can account for
who is woking on the site; it involves a free t-shirt, too. Also, if
you want to go long, Mike Fitzsimmons will be doing an easy 5-miles
starting at 8 before the RF run. More details here.
Tuesday, 21 April
