Tere Liikmed,
As I watch the Wings fight for the Stanley Cup, I can't help but think
about why I like our sport. Regardless of how fast or slow the
competition completes the course, triathlon is almost always about you
versus the course. The guy next to you may have trained more, but had
one too many bon bons the day before, so you prevail. Maybe next time,
the tables will be turned. Regardless, if you can't make it through the
course, it doesn't matter one way or the other. This is what I love
about triathlon - doing the best YOU can do on any given day.
On a lighter note, the club is here to help us all train and race!

Johan's Tri Fest - This is the next MERCRS race that we are
targeting. It is an Olympic-distance race that takes place on Saturday,
June 20th. The race is about 2.5 hours away. If you are interested in
doing the race, which I KNOW you are, let me know. More info about
coordinating caravans, day-of and day-before transportation, hotels,
etc. will be provided as we get closer. Let me know what you want/need.
Remember, you don't have to win to make a difference! Also, the field
is limited to 500, so sign up soon!

Now for the workouts for this week:

Thursday, 11 June
Brick
- Brick is back at Huron Bridge Park. Meet in the second parking lot, and be ready to ride at 6. Here
is the route, less dirt roads. Bike is ~26.3 miles and run loop is 1.5
miles. If you are worried about the distance, please let me know, and
I'll do what I can to find an alternate route (though I'm not making an
promises you won't end up on a dirt road, because I don't know the area
that well.)

Friday, 12 June
Swim and Run
- I contend that the water at Silver Lake is warmer
than that of Half Moon. Several of us went on Sunday, and it was just
lovely. Try it out this Friday at Silver Lake (map here.)
Meet at 6:30 by the picnic tables close to the second parking lot. Swim
course is a quarter-mile out and back (Mike Fitz DID come out with his
fancy GPS doo-dad, and has settled the distance once-and-for-all.) Did
I mention wetsuits? You might want to bring them. Also, bring your
running shoes, and try your luck against the world-famous Pinckney deer
flies. You better run fast, or they'll getcha.

Saturday, 13 June
Morning Run Sponsored by Running Fit
- Club partner, Running Fit,
sponsors a 6-8 mile run starting promptly at 9:03 a.m. out of Gallup
Park. Meet at the picnic tables in the second parking lot (over the
bridge.) If you have any questions about weather, distance, etc.,
please contact our dashing workout coordinator, Sean
(seangeary@yahoo.com.)
Running Fit offers perks for showing up weekly, starting with a free
water bottle after 6 runs and working up to a free tech shirt after 18.

Sunday, 14 June
Outdoor Ride
- I will not be able to lead the ride this weekend (as
I will be at Batavia, trying to bring home MERCRS glory to Ann Arbor.)
If you riding on Sunday, and wouldn't mind a few companions, let me
know so we can set something up. Or, you can e-mail the members
yourself.

Tuesday, 16 June
Tuesday Night Track Club Workout
- Partake in the Track Club's
speed workout. NEW LOCATION: Meet at the bridge in Gallup Park. Warm-up
starts at 6:30, and workout starts at 7:00. This week - Gallop laps:
big fast (not east part, 1.33 mi), small slow (0.45 mi) (3X).
Workout is free to Track Club members. For the record, I don't really
know what this workout involves; I guess we will just have to go to
find out!

That's all for now. If you have any questions, concerns, complaints, etc., let me know. That's what I'm here for.
