Heisann,
I had an eye opening experience this week. Because I no longer have any
sort of race to look forward to (read: looming over my head,) I have
been partaking in more casual workouts as of late. This includes
spinning at several of the local gymnasiums. After an intense trainer
ride on Sunday at Hyperfit, I wanted a quick recovery ride. I headed to
one of said gyms, struggling with a bad "case of the Mondays." I had
SPD shoes, a towel, and a bottle of water, but I was in no way prepared
for the class. Within the first 15 minutes, 75% of the class was
belting out the chorus of Linda Ronstadt's "You're No Good." The
content of the workout was adequately challenging, but I had to
maintain strict pseudo-aero position on the Spin bike in order to avoid
eye contact with the woman singing and gyrating right in front of my
bike. We abandoned a standing climb in order to free up our hands to
clap with the Village People's "In the Navy." To me, this was a
horrifying experience. However, the other 20+ people in the room seemed
to be having a blast.
I learned two things from this experience:
1. Check the class schedule ahead of time to ensure it is not the same instructor from that fateful day, and
2. Everybody is different. We all like a different pace, a different environment, a different tone.
We, the members of the Tri Club board, are here to provide to you, the members of the club. Please tell us what you are looking for. Like the Saturday morning run, but wish it were in a different place? Like the idea of a trainer ride, but don't actually own a trainer? Let me know! I want to help.
Speaking of help, I need yours.
Last call for designing the new kit for the club! - So far, I have received exactly ZERO submissions.
We have had much interest in getting club kit last year, but my total lack of artistic abilities didn't get us anywhere. Now I am asking for your help. Please, please, please! submit a design for Louis Garneau Delfino Racer Top and Delfino Bottom by 12/19. I only have on taker thus far; you don't want me left to my own devices on this one.
In other news, we have some good stuff coming up from our sponsors:

HyperFit Trainer Ride
- Club sponsor HyperFit is offering a free trainer ride on Sundays at 8am, led by fellow triathlete and general badass Zoe Metro. Zoe writes, "Sunday morning rides at Hyperfit USA in December. Come set up your bike and trainer and ride for an hour or two. Informal "class" - bring towel and water bottle. I'll have a workout ready, but feel free to do your own thing too. Invite your friends: anyone with a bike and trainer is
welcome - no fee, your company is enough for me :-) But no complaining about my music! (well you can complain, but I'm not changing it.)"
HyperFit is located at 670 Airport Blvd in Ann Arbor.

Tuesday Track Club Workout...on Monday -
Come have your butt handed to you by the track club. Workout starts at 7:30 (not 7:00) in the field house. The bad news is that the price is now $5, but the good news is that we get the track all to ourselves (that means no more pole vaulters or 8-year-old's out-running you.)
This week: 1x1600m (800m jog), 8x400m (200m jog)
That's all for now. If you have any gripes, let me know.
