A New Way of Doing Business
The board met last night (June 8) and had a great
meeting. As you know, Emilie Tullis--our previous president--has moved
to Colorado and Jon Woodard--our webmaster among other things--is also
moving. Given this, we met to figure out who will be taking over the
various responsibilities. Traditionally, the president has been the
'workhorse' of the club with a lot of responsibilities piled on her
shoulders. The board would like to change this and divvy up
responsibilities more equitably among its members. Therefore, we
decided not to appoint a president (at least for now) and work together
as a team to ensure that presidential duties are fulfilled. This is an
experiment and it stands the best chance of success if you help out. (See below.)
A Call for
Volunteers
We need you!!! Really. We're looking for new faces, new
energy, and new ideas. You don't need to take the plunge and become a
board member to help out. If you would like to take on a more active
role with the club in any capacity, we'd love to have you. Currently,
we would love member input and help in the following areas (though if
there are other areas you would like to help out, please let us know):
-
Contributing ideas/brainstorming new activities and/or ways to make the
club better. - Making the club more friendly and responsive to new
members and beginning multisport athletes. - Planning social
engagements for members. - Coordinating workouts.
- Administering the
website.
Renewed Focus on the Website
Our beloved webmaster, Jon Woodard, spent untold hours updating our
website and making it more interactive. All members can log in and post
articles and forum topics now. Ironically, though, we've moved away
from using the website and its calendar for posting updates, planning
workouts, scheduling, forums, etc. The board decided that we will start
directing member attention to relevant links on the website and
encouraging members to use it to post information, requests, and workout
invitations. Stay tuned for further changes...
Kids' Tri Postponed until 2011
Race Director Heather Woolls has been working diligently since last year
to schedule the Kids' Triathlon for 2010. Due to complicated reasons,
she recently found out that the planned date (June 26th) for the event
will no longer work for the venue. Normally, this wouldn't be a big
deal, but unfortunately in this case it was the only date before August
that our sponsoring organization could supply us with the workers and
equipment to make it happen. Because the venue is not available in
August, we're out of luck this year. We will plan on having the event
in June 2011 instead.
