Running Fit World
Headquarters Takes on a Whole New Look
By Tracey Cohen
Co-owner
Randy Step describes the recent relocation of Running Fit’s World Headquarters
to be, “much more than a move – it’s a totally different store.”
Formerly
located on Enterprise Drive, on September 15, 2009 Running Fit’s Ann Arbor West
location moved approximately one-half mile east on Jackson Road nearer to
Zeeb. Housing Running Fit’s event
company and retail store, the newly remodeled building was once a church that
has been recycled into the hub of Running Fit operations.
“A
multi sports store” is how Step describes the new venue. The installation of an Endless Pool is
anticipated by January 2010, which will be used for wetsuit
demonstrations. Customers will find
triathlon gear in addition to the quality footwear and apparel for which
Running Fit is known.
A
group run is offered every Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m., which is free and
open to the public. Runners of all ages
and abilities meet at the store and generally go between 3 – 8 miles.
Additionally,
Damsels in the Street, an extension of the Thursday night run meet at Running
Fit’s Headquarters every Thursday morning at 6 a.m. Led by Coach Gina, ladies generally run
between 1 – 4 miles. Guys are welcome, but
must pay $1 to join, proceeds of which will be used at a later time for a group
breakfast. All runners must wear
reflective gear and carry a headlamp or flashlight. Questions and more information can be
attained by contacting Kathleen Gina at thebigdog@twodogsrunning.com.
Step
affirms that while all of the kinks are still being worked out, “We’re open for
business! We’ll announce our grand
opening soon and invite everyone to come and drink champagne!”
